Sorry for the not-very-compressed JPEG images from the 10th and 11th. I was using Photoshop without my favorite JPEG compression plug-in and didn't realize that it was set to maximum quality. I've recompressed and re-uploaded them all now.

That last update from Kinko's in Nashville cost over $23 for the computer time, ouch. So I will try to be brief unless I have lots of time to mess with HTML layout etc. Chances are that I won't.

We visited Memphis, Tennessee, including the lovely Beale Street. We had some great gumbo, hush puppies, barbeque ribs, and other southern goodies at the King's Palace Club. We also saw the Charlie Wood Trio there. More pictures and notes later.

Here's the Memphis Pyramid, when we first caught sight of it. Wow. You get the idea of how far away it is.

Here it is, closer.

Here's Kim with the Pyramid.

Here are some tangled overpasses, right near the pyramid.

Beale Street is the cool place to go in Memphis.

Here's another photo of Beale Street.

Elvis had a lot of TV's

Elvis also had a cool bar, with lots of mirrors. Imagine being cross-eyed drunk and looking around the bar.

At Graceland, you can see Elvis's many gold records.

Many, many gold records.

And his tuxedo.

Elvis got a lot of trophies too.

More trophies.

There's some nice, tame graffitti on the brick gates in front of Graceland.

My car looks cool in the Graceland parking lot. Elvis would have liked my car, I'm sure of it.

The Mississippi river is huge. Here is Memphis, photographed from across the Mississippi, right as we started across the bridge.

Still pretty far away.

Here's the Mississippi itself. A big wide slow river at this point in its trek toward the ocean.
