General Information about the Band

Voivod is from Canada, and began as a hardcore band; their music has progressed from super-agressive hardcore to a more adventurous sort of progressive metal.

Rumor has it that the reason the bassist left the band after Nothingface (though he did sit in for Angel Rat, he was not listed or photographed with the rest of the band) was that he didn't like the direction the music was taking. Then, after touring for The Outer Limits (I was fortunate enough to catch them twice), the singer left the band. The logical question - can Voivod live without half its original members?

Negatron, the latest album (on sale in the US 11/21/95 I believe), features a new singer/bassist. I have not personally bought it but I downloaded the MPEG audio clips and they sound cool - more like Dimension Hatross then Angel Rat.
