X-Men rocked. They didn't ruin it. Hugh Jackman totally kicked ass as Wolverine. (In case you were wondering, yes I did collect X-Men and Wolverine comics back in the 80s). They nailed it, with entirely appropriate creative license (black costumes, etc.). Kim and Jason and I just watched The Postman on cable (the Kevin Costner one, not Il Postino). What a piece of dung. We were unable to tear ourselves away from it, like a car crash. Kim and I also watched Rear Window on AMC, and that was pretty cool. If you get a wireless ethernet card, Lucent's is probably the best. There will still be issues with power management on laptops, though, based on my experience with a Lucent and a Farallon card, both used in a Powerbook G3 and a Dell laptop. I guess the drivers aren't smart enough yet. I might upgrade to Win2k on the laptop sooner than I originally planned, just to see if that works better. (There are W2K drivers available.)
I've been messing around with Litestream lately. It's an open source streaming MP3 server. I have my whole collection of MP3s playing on the home LAN now (not open to outside listeners yet due to limited upstream DSL bandwidth). I wrote a FAQ. I just found out, litestream is by the same guy who wrote gnutella - Gene Kan. Portishead is good stuff. For some reason their eponymous album is first in my playlist file, so every time I mess with litestream, it goes back to the start... so I hear Portishead a lot now :) |
