A lot of things have happened. Ikea has opened (more or less) locally and we've been there a couple of times. It's really big, and they're sold out of a lot of the stuff we need. Our closet is super tiny so we're trying to get all the parts of a Pax wardrobe set. We've ordered a loft bed from Timberloft. We ordered the TN103QF if you're curious. The apartment is getting less cluttered and more orderly. We got rid of a lot of boxes thanks to Kim's efforts via Craigslist. We finally set up Jason's sofa so now we have three in the living room. Somebody got the idea of putting them all in line like seats in a theater (or airline). We watched Vertigo last night (on DVD) and it was a lot of fun. I had never seen it before, and once again Hitchcock impressed me. However the tailing sequences were a bit silly; nobody could be followed that closely and obviously and not notice. I'm starting to develop a taste for jazz. I am a big fan of jazz fusion, but pure jazz is something I never really appreciated. Now I am starting to. I've been playing with some people lately and learning more about jazz music theory and it's making a lot more sense. Now I just have to internalize it so I can think that way in real time, which could take quite a while. I tried to get together with some people recently to play a bit, and it felt really premature - I couldn't quite keep up mentally with the unfamiliar music that was handed to me, and there were other negative factors as well. It was a frustrating experience because I'm used to music coming very easily to me and suddenly it didn't. Perhaps some time alone with books, sheet music, and some music software (for accompaniment) is the trick? |
